Free Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 Shoprite Holdings Limited (SHP) | 31,954 ZAC (+0.41%) Price Action & Trend: SHP continues to operate in a pristine bullish moving average stack (Price > 8D: 31,798 > 21D: 31,618 > 75D: 30,393 > 200D: 28,526 ZAC). Today’s candle was a resilient green tick closing near the session high, demonstrating strong defensive relative strength while the broader market sold off. Tactical momentum sits at a solid 55.11 with secular momentum robust at 74.10. Risks: Valuation multiples remain rich relative to historical averages, and low beta limits explosive short-term percentage velocity; any broad-market de-risking could drag price back to test the intermediate 75-day baseline. Opportunities: Operates as the premier defensive quality anchor across domestic retail. Active traders should look for trend-continuation long entries on shallow pullbacks into the fast moving average ribbon, targeting blue-sky expansion toward new all-time highs while anchoring protective trailing stops just beneath dynamic short-term support. Woolworths Holdings Limited (WHL) | 3,692 ZAC (+0.30%) Price Action & Trend: WHL is carving an accumulation base off its multi-year support floor. Despite being trapped in a severe medium-term bear trend beneath its descending 200-day SMA (4,977 ZAC), today’s candle printed a constructive inside-day that successfully defended the 8-day EMA (3,679 ZAC). Tactical momentum has hooked up to 45.66 while intermediate momentum remains heavily compressed (14W RSI: 20.15). Risks: Severe consumer credit headwinds and structural margin pressure; a breakdown below the primary support shelf invalidates the bottoming thesis and resumes downside price discovery. Opportunities: Offers highly favorable asymmetry for mean-reversion long setups. Accumulate within the base-building range, anchoring tight stops beneath the structural swing low and targeting a relief snapback toward the descending short-term ribbon, with secondary profit objectives at intermediate moving average resistance. Spar Group Limited (SPP) | 4,525 ZAC (−2.04%) Price Action & Trend: SPP is attempting an aggressive counter-trend recovery from deep cyclical lows (+6.22% 1-month), trading at a massive 28.5% discount to its Technical Fair Value. Today’s candle was an intraday rejection from the descending 75-day EMA (4,616 ZAC), pulling price back toward dynamic support at the 8-day EMA (4,463 ZAC). Tactical momentum has softened slightly to 57.69. Risks: Pinned beneath an inverted 200-day SMA (6,183 ZAC); fading momentum at overhead moving average resistance exposes the counter to a fast unwind back into prior liquidity voids. Opportunities: Swing traders should monitor pullbacks into short-term dynamic moving averages for absorption wicks to capture a secondary recovery leg. Conversely, tactical bears can look to fade failed breakout attempts into major overhead moving average clusters, trailing stops just beyond the overhead pivot. Boxer Retail Limited (BOX) | 8,036 ZAC (+0.07%) Price Action & Trend: Alongside Shoprite, Boxer exhibits pristine trend architecture (Price > 8D: 8,031 > 21D: 7,955 > 75D: 7,864 > 200D: 7,647 ZAC). Today’s candle was a constructive pause (+0.07%) holding above its 8-day EMA, keeping momentum in balanced, bullish territory across tactical (53.76) and intermediate (56.13) frames. Risks: Thinner liquidity profile relative to Tier-1 large caps creates slippage and gap risk; losing short-term dynamic moving averages would signal a deeper mean-reverting retest of the secular baseline. Opportunities: Bull flag continuation trade. Enter long on momentum expansion clearing recent consolidation highs or on shallow intraday tests of the fast moving average ribbon, targeting trend extension into higher liquidity bands with trailing stops locked beneath the short-term trend filter.

  • Spot Gold

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 Currently, price action for Spot Gold is undergoing a tense consolidation phase near the 4,135.43 mark, with the active daily candle resting directly upon a major multi-month structural support shelf. After suffering an aggressive multi-week markdown, downside momentum is beginning to encounter significant institutional absorption as the market probes the boundaries of the primary 4,100.00 – 4,130.00 demand zone. While responsive buyers are actively attempting to establish an interim floor at these discounted levels, overarching momentum remains firmly dictated by descending supply. Looking at the broader macro structure, Spot Gold remains locked within a severe cyclical correction following its all-time high above 5,600.00 in early 2026. This rotation brings the asset directly back into the critical battleground positioned just above the 3,960.00 summer capitulation floor. While the overarching multi-month sequence of descending swing highs maintains a heavily defensive posture, the confluence of extreme downside momentum extension and historical accumulation liquidity indicates that the market is entering a high-probability inflection window for a protracted mean-reversion pause or structural breakdown. Best Probability Over 3 Days Price is favored to stage a localized, mean-reversion consolidation or shallow relief bounce between 4,110.00 and 4,200.00 as aggressive selling velocity takes a pause to digest the recent structural flush. With immediate downside pressure stalling against the primary demand shelf, a counter-trend push toward the 4,200.00 – 4,280.00 broken resistance zone is expected over the coming sessions, offering trend sellers a more favorable location to re-establish short hedges. Best Probability Over 5 Days Over the 5-day horizon, the market is poised to test whether this stabilization represents durable accumulation or merely a bear-flag pause before further distribution. If responsive buyers fail to clear and sustain acceptance above 4,280.00, expect sellers to reassert control and force a secondary retest of the 4,110.00 floor. A daily close beneath 4,100.00 would open the path for an accelerated breakdown toward the primary 3,960.00 – 4,000.00 summer demand pocket. Conversely, a decisive daily close back above 4,380.00 would neutralize the immediate downward impulse. Risks of Entering a Buy/Long Position at Current Levels Trading Counter to Dominant Downward Momentum: Entering long at current levels attempts to catch a falling knife in a market that has declined severely from its 4,700 peak without printing a confirmed multi-day accumulation base. Formidable Overhead Supply Ceilings: Broken structural shelves at 4,200.00, 4,280.00, and 4,380.00 represent dense bands where trapped long participants will seek breakeven exits, aggressively capping potential upside velocity. Air-Pocket Risk Below 4,100: A confirmed daily close below the recent 4,100.00 support risks triggering a secondary stop cascade down toward the 3,960.00 macro baseline before authentic institutional bidding re-emerges. Risks of Entering a Sell/Short Position at Current Levels Stretched Momentum Metrics: Following an extended and severe liquidation from the upper 4,000s, momentum indicators are technically stretched and highly vulnerable to a sharp, violent short-covering mean-reversion squeeze. Proximity to Macro Support Floor: Shorting near 4,135.43 places entries directly into a major historical accumulation zone that sits just above the primary summer capitulation low. Unfavorable Asymmetric Risk/Reward: Initiating fresh short exposure near current lows requires placing protective stops above 4,280.00 or 4,380.00 to survive routine basing volatility, severely degrading the trade's risk-to-reward ratio.

  • 🖥️ Technical Screens: 10 Shares Trading at Discount vs Technical Fair Value (Oversold Opportunity)

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 Disclosure: The commentary below was compiled using an artificial intelligence tool, based on my own data. 1. We Buy Cars Holdings Ltd. (WBC) | Current: 2,609 ZAC vs. TFV: 3,701 ZAC (−29.5%) WBC is mired in an acute liquidity liquidation cycle (−53.13% 1-year), hovering marginally above its 52-week low of 2,517 ZAC. Tactical momentum remains compressed at 23.49, with intermediate (9.85) and secular (16.35) momentum reflecting deep structural capitulation below the 200-day SMA (3,802 ZAC). Trading at an extreme 29.5% discount to Technical Fair Value, the counter represents a classic coiled spring for a violent counter-trend short-squeeze toward the 8-day EMA (2,708 ZAC). 2. Foschini Group Limited (TFG) | Current: 5,027 ZAC vs. TFV: 7,085 ZAC (−29.0%) TFG has initiated an oversold relief bounce (+4.16% weekly) off multi-year floors, lifting tactical momentum to 57.32 while secular momentum remains depressed at 20.58. Trapped beneath an inverted moving average ribbon and well below its 200-day SMA (6,680 ZAC), the stock sits at a steep 29.0% discount to its 6-MA composite benchmark. The current rally reflects an aggressive mean-reversion move, facing heavy overhead supply at the 75-day EMA (5,488 ZAC). 3. Spar Group Limited (SPP) | Current: 4,619 ZAC vs. TFV: 6,461 ZAC (−28.5%) SPP has printed a strong tactical counter-trend surge (+8.43% weekly), driving short-term momentum to 65.07 against an otherwise broken secular trend (−54.20% 1-year). The stock trades at a 28.5% discount to its Technical Fair Value, pinned far beneath its descending 200-day SMA (6,208 ZAC). While short-term velocity is positive, price is directly encountering dense resistance at its 75-day EMA (4,618 ZAC), where counter-trend bounces typically lose momentum. 4. PowerFleet, Inc. (PWR) | Current: 4,664 ZAC vs. TFV: 6,369 ZAC (−26.7%) PWR remains trapped in a protracted cyclical downtrend (−47.00% 1-year), oscillating near the lower boundary of its multi-month distribution range. Tactical momentum sits in neutral territory at 48.07, while intermediate (30.94) and secular (30.21) readings reflect chronic institutional selling below the 200-day SMA (6,966 ZAC). The 26.7% discount to TFV provides favorable asymmetry for mean-reversion bounces, but reclaiming the 21-day EMA (4,864 ZAC) is required to arrest the broader slide. 5. Sappi Limited (SAP) | Current: 1,311 ZAC vs. TFV: 1,730 ZAC (−24.2%) SAP experienced an abrupt short-covering surge (+5.90% weekly), lifting tactical momentum to 59.00 while secular momentum remains damaged at 34.25. Pinned below its 200-day SMA (1,563 ZAC) and 50-week EMA (1,356 ZAC), the counter trades at a 24.2% discount to its composite fair value. The rapid pop through its 8-day (1,266 ZAC) and 21-day (1,290 ZAC) EMAs signals tactical mean reversion, though heavy institutional supply looms at the 75-day EMA (1,314 ZAC). 6. Woolworths Holdings Limited (WHL) | Current: 3,681 ZAC vs. TFV: 4,840 ZAC (−23.9%) WHL has begun to hook upward off its 52-week low shelf (3,584 ZAC), lifting tactical momentum to 43.51 while intermediate (19.13) and secular (18.12) momentum remain near historic lows. Pinned far beneath its 200-day SMA (4,986 ZAC), the counter carries an extreme 23.9% valuation discount to TFV. Reclaiming the 8-day EMA (3,675 ZAC) confirms short-covering interest, targeting an initial snapback toward the 21-day EMA (3,804 ZAC). 7. Kumba Iron Ore Limited (KIO) | Current: 22,154 ZAC vs. TFV: 29,073 ZAC (−23.7%) KIO continues to suffer structural liquidation (−31.25% 1-year), trapped beneath a steeply falling moving average stack. Tactical momentum is soft at 38.05, while intermediate (11.98) and secular (20.72) regimes reflect complete abandonment by institutional funds below the 200-day SMA (30,511 ZAC). Operating at a 23.7% discount to TFV, the stock is heavily coiled for a technical bounce, but remains vulnerable to retesting its 21,452 ZAC demand floor. 8. Blu Label Unlimited Group Ltd. (BLU) | Current: 697 ZAC vs. TFV: 890 ZAC (−21.6%) BLU remains locked in a severe intermediate bear channel (−48.06% 1-year), hugging multi-month lows beneath descending resistance. Tactical (27.58), intermediate (26.63), and secular (34.74) momentum profiles confirm an entrenched distribution regime below the 200-day SMA (889 ZAC). The 21.6% discount to TFV reflects ongoing balance-sheet skepticism, with rallies toward the 8-day EMA (724 ZAC) likely to be faded until a multi-week base is established. 9. Truworths International Limited (TRU) | Current: 4,374 ZAC vs. TFV: 5,410 ZAC (−19.1%) TRU has staged a tactical mean-reversion bounce off its 4,143 ZAC low, lifting short-term momentum to 56.50 while secular momentum lags at 28.42. The stock remains trapped well below its 200-day SMA (5,315 ZAC) and trades at a 19.1% discount to its Technical Fair Value. While clearing the 8-day EMA (4,305 ZAC) provides short-term breathing room, the recovery faces immediate overhead supply at the declining 21-day EMA (4,393 ZAC). 10. Naspers Limited Class N (NPN) | Current: 70,787 ZAC vs. TFV: 87,461 ZAC (−19.0%) NPN is attempting to carve an accumulation base against its 52-week low boundary (69,005 ZAC), lifting tactical momentum to 44.54 while intermediate (32.46) and secular (27.20) momentum reflect chronic medium-term de-rating. Pinned well below its 200-day SMA (88,567 ZAC) and 50-week EMA (79,447 ZAC), NPN carries a wide 19.0% discount to TFV. Defending the 70,000 ZAC shelf creates an asymmetric risk-reward profile for an intermediate recovery targeting the 21-day EMA (72,391 ZAC). What is a Technical Screen? In trading and technical analysis, a technical screen (or "screener") is a systematic process used to filter a vast universe of securities—such as the 100+ liquid names on the JSE or the thousands on the NYSE—down to a manageable shortlist that meets specific, predefined criteria. Rather than analyzing every chart manually, a screen acts as a quantitative "funnel" to identify setups where the odds are mathematically skewed in your favor. Why Professionals Use Screens For an investment professional, a screen is less about "finding a tip" and more about process efficiency and bias reduction: Scalability: It allows an analyst to monitor hundreds of shares across multiple timeframes (Daily, Weekly, Monthly) simultaneously. Objectivity: It removes emotional attachment to specific "story stocks" and focuses strictly on price action and momentum profiles. Early Detection: It identifies sector rotations or "alpha flows" before they become obvious to the broader market. The Goal: A technical screen doesn't tell you what to buy; it tells you what is worth your time to investigate today. It turns a sea of data into a high-probability "watchlist." Types of Technical Screens Rotation: Absolute & Relative Trend & Phase Scans Leading Phase: Strong across all timeframes. Lagging Phase: Weak across all timeframes. Waking Up / Turnaround: Short-term strength appearing in a long-term downtrend. Deteriorating: Short-term weakness appearing in a long-term uptrend. Momentum & Velocity Power Trend: Extreme bullish momentum pushing a strong trend higher. Hyper Momentum: Parabolic, highly volatile upside. Violent Breakout: Explosive short-term push reversing a weak long-term trend. Momentum Squeeze: Timeframe convergence (coiling) usually preceding an explosive price move. Over-extended & Extremes Extreme Overbought: Euphoria across the board. Extreme Oversold: Severe panic selling across the board. Overbought Warning in Bear Trend: Violent counter-trend rally ripe for short-selling. Deep Dip in Bull Trend: Sharp, over-extended pullback in a primary uptrend. Capitulation: Total institutional abandonment. Volatility & Accumulation Steady Accumulation: High-quality, low-drama buying. Low Volatility Compounders: Slow, steady, highly predictable uptrends. High Volatility Momentum: Strong trend with wild daily swings. High-Vol Laggards: Dangerous wealth-destroyers with massive daily swings. Dead Money: Trapped in a tight, directionless neutral zone. Market Structure & Divergences Perfect Bull Alignment: Textbook sequential leadership (Short-term leads medium-term, which leads long-term). Perfect Bear Alignment: Textbook sequential breakdown (Short-term leads the decline, dragging down medium and long-term trends). Bullish Divergence: Shorter timeframes dragging a dead long-term trend higher. Bearish Divergence: Shorter timeframes breaking down while the long-term trend still looks great. Stealth Bull: Creeping accumulation while the long-term chart still looks bad. Stealth Bear: Creeping distribution while the long-term chart still looks good. MT Turnaround: Medium-term momentum just crossing out of weakness, pulled by short-term strength. MT Breakdown: Medium-term momentum just dropping out of strength, dragged by short-term weakness. Transitions & Pullbacks Bull Market Correction: Healthy pullback into weak territory within a strong primary trend. Bear Market Rally: Sharp bounce into strong territory within a primary downtrend. Bullish Stall: Short-term momentum flatlining inside a strong trend. Base Building: Bleeding has stopped, chopping sideways at the bottom. Lester Davids Senior Investment Analyst: Unum Capital

  • 🖥️ Technical Screens: 10 Shares Trading at Premium vs Technical Fair Value (Overbought Risk)

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 Disclosure: The commentary below was compiled using an artificial intelligence tool, based on my own data. 1. Montauk Renewables, Inc. (MKR) | Current: 4,829 ZAC vs. TFV: 3,407 ZAC (+41.7%) MKR displays extreme multi-timeframe trend extension after an aggressive parabolic re-rating (+154.16% 6-month performance). With tactical momentum registering an overbought 65.90 alongside high intermediate (77.75) and secular (65.54) momentum, price is floating far above its 200-day SMA (2,794 ZAC) and 50-week EMA (3,466 ZAC). The 41.7% premium over its 6-MA composite benchmark leaves the counter vulnerable to a sharp mean-reverting air pocket toward the 8-day EMA (4,673 ZAC) should buying volume falter. 2. Exemplar REITail Ltd. (EXP) | Current: 1,816 ZAC vs. TFV: 1,313 ZAC (+38.3%) EXP remains locked at the ceiling of its trading range, reflecting illiquid, one-way accumulation that has pegged tactical (95.00), intermediate (94.40), and secular (90.49) momentum into hyper-extended territory. The stock is floating 38.3% above its Technical Fair Value with price pinned well above its 8-day (1,688 ZAC) and 21-day (1,505 ZAC) averages. The structural detachment from long-term baselines flags an acute overextension warning where secondary market liquidity could trigger severe gap-fill risk. 3. Sasol Limited (SOL) | Current: 23,599 ZAC vs. TFV: 17,806 ZAC (+32.5%) Sasol continues its secular momentum expansion (+119.53% 1-year), operating in a clean moving average ribbon stack (8D > 21D > 75D > 200D). Tactical momentum sits in upper bullish territory at 69.33, confirmed by robust intermediate (68.21) and secular (71.58) momentum regimes. While institutional sponsorship remains firm above the 8-day EMA (23,149 ZAC), trading at a 32.5% premium to its 17,806 ZAC fair value baseline raises the probability of a corrective consolidation back toward the 200-day SMA (17,953 ZAC). 4. Heriot REIT Ltd. (HET) | Current: 2,600 ZAC vs. TFV: 1,962 ZAC (+32.5%) HET trades in an uncorrected, low-volume vertical ascent (+62.50% 1-year), generating statistical momentum ceiling prints across tactical (96.42), intermediate (96.35), and secular (100.00) horizons. The stock sits 32.5% above its composite baseline, with wide structural air beneath current price and its 8-day (2,447 ZAC) and 21-day (2,095 ZAC) EMAs. The complete absence of two-way liquidity creates high drawdown convexity if buyers step away from the current 2,600 ZAC bid. 5. Stadio Holdings Pty Ltd. (SDO) | Current: 1,632 ZAC vs. TFV: 1,248 ZAC (+30.7%) SDO exhibits sustained secular trend acceleration (+55.43% 1-year and +35.55% 6-month), maintaining an immaculate bullish moving average structure above its 200-day SMA (1,256 ZAC). Tactical momentum has re-accelerated to 59.64, supported by intermediate (66.03) and secular (82.92) momentum alignment. Although organic fundamental accumulation is evident, the 30.7% premium over TFV leaves new capital allocation vulnerable to a multi-week pause toward the rising 21-day EMA (1,539 ZAC). 6. Omnia Holdings Limited (OMN) | Current: 12,300 ZAC vs. TFV: 9,858 ZAC (+24.7%) OMN commands one of the strongest technical trend matrices on the exchange (+65.10% 1-year), with price hovering near 52-week highs at 12,746 ZAC. Tactical momentum is elevated at 69.68, while intermediate (76.99) and secular (78.11) momentum profiles remain firmly overbought. Holding 24.7% above its Technical Fair Value, the counter demonstrates unexhausted institutional demand, though risk-reward for long additions is unfavorable until a reversion toward the 21-day EMA (11,858 ZAC) develops. 7. Grindrod Limited (GND) | Current: 2,766 ZAC vs. TFV: 2,245 ZAC (+23.2%) GND has resumed its high-velocity primary uptrend (+80.20% 1-year), printing a solid +10.64% monthly gain and holding comfortably above its 200-day SMA (2,239 ZAC). Tactical momentum has pushed to 47.52, while secular momentum registers an elite 72.57. The 23.2% premium over its 6-MA composite baseline reflects prolonged institutional accumulation, though shallow retests of the 8-day EMA (2,783 ZAC) are required to reset short-term overextension. 8. Santam Limited (SNT) | Current: 48,200 ZAC vs. TFV: 40,765 ZAC (+18.2%) SNT has undergone a volatility blowout, surging +18.57% on a weekly basis and pressing into blue-sky territory near 49,000 ZAC. Tactical momentum has breached extreme levels at 85.89, supported by overbought intermediate (78.24) and secular (72.79) regimes. Trading 18.2% above its Technical Fair Value and widely dislocated from its 200-day SMA (40,840 ZAC), the price action is flashing late-stage exhaustion signals, indicating elevated risk of a sharp mean-reversion pullback. 9. ADvTECH Limited (ADH) | Current: 5,133 ZAC vs. TFV: 4,346 ZAC (+18.1%) ADH remains an elite secular compounder (+57.94% 1-year), holding tightly near its 52-week peak of 5,282 ZAC. Momentum across tactical (55.55), intermediate (67.62), and secular (93.29) horizons reflects pristine trend durability above its rising 200-day SMA (4,357 ZAC) and 50-week EMA (4,765 ZAC). The 18.1% premium above TFV represents structural strength rather than speculative froth, making shallow pullbacks to the 21-day EMA (5,066 ZAC) high-probability continuation zones. 10. Anglo American plc (AGL) | Current: 91,090 ZAC vs. TFV: 78,549 ZAC (+15.9%) AGL serves as the primary resource sector anchor (+40.50% 1-year), consolidating recent multi-week gains directly above its 8-day (89,560 ZAC) and 21-day (88,631 ZAC) EMAs. Tactical momentum sits at a constructive 63.53 with secular momentum holding at 69.77, confirming ongoing institutional rotation into diversified base metals. While its 15.9% extension above TFV indicates near-term maturity, the structural trend remains robust as long as the 85,449 ZAC intermediate support band holds. What is a Technical Screen? • The Momentum Report

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 Disclosure: The commentary below was compiled using an artificial intelligence tool, based on my own inputs/data. 🟩 🟢 ↗️ SA Inc. V-Shaped Momentum Hook: Short-term oscillators across the domestic cyclicals have violently hooked upward out of extreme oversold territory. The sudden expansion in tactical momentum confirms aggressive short-covering and fast-money repositioning. 🟩 🟢 ↗️ Retail Momentum Snapback: Woolworths (WHL) saw its 7-day RSI nearly double from sub-30 levels to 43.51. TFG surged to 57.32, signaling that the extreme downside rubber-band has officially snapped back toward the technical mean. 🟥 🔴 ⬇️ PGM Complex Dead-Cat Dynamics: Momentum in the Platinum sector is non-existent. Impala Platinum (IMP) printed an abysmal 7-day RSI of 19.96, and Northam (NPH) registered 20.48. The lack of any momentum divergence warns of severe institutional abandonment. 🟥 🔴 ⬇️ Gold Miners Plunge into the Basement: Despite a supportive macro backdrop, local gold operators are suffering severe momentum decay. Harmony Gold (HAR) registered the lowest momentum in the sector with a 7D RSI of 18.97, an extreme reading indicative of forced liquidation. 🟦 🔵 ⬆️ Santam (SNT) Blow-Off Top Readings: SNT remains locked in a hyper-extended momentum regime, printing a 7-day RSI of 85.89. This is a statistical anomaly that demands immediate caution for late buyers, as the velocity of the move is unsustainable. 🟩 🟢 ↗️ Banks Re-Enter Neutral Zones: The banking sector has successfully neutralized its short-term oversold conditions. Standard Bank (SBK) (7D RSI: 45.26), FirstRand (FSR) (43.87), and Absa (ABG) (43.30) have all pushed back into the 40–50 range, restoring two-way trading mechanics. 🟦 🔵 ⬆️ Sasol (SOL) Overbought Acceleration: Sasol continues to grind higher, pushing its tactical 7-day RSI into overbought territory at 69.33. The momentum profile remains highly bullish, confirming institutional accumulation rather than speculative retail volume. 🟨 🟡 ↘️ Tech Sector Momentum Stall: Naspers (NPN) (7D RSI: 44.54) and Prosus (PRX) (42.32) have seen their short-term momentum recovery stall exactly at the technical mean. They lack the necessary velocity to punch through heavy intermediate resistance bands. 🟥 🔴 ⬇️ WBC Trapped in Extreme Oversold: We Buy Cars (WBC) managed a slight dead-cat bounce, but its 7-day RSI remains acutely depressed at 23.49. The failure to generate a higher momentum high confirms that sellers remain entirely in control. 🟩 🟢 ↗️ Sanlam (SLM) Reversal Velocity: SLM generated the most impressive intra-day momentum reversal on the exchange, catapulting its 7-day RSI from extreme oversold (22.60) straight to a bullish 58.09 on the back of its +5.48% surge.

  • The Breadth Report

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 Disclosure: The commentary below was compiled using an artificial intelligence tool, based on my own data. 🟩 🟢 ↗️ Coordinated SA Inc. Tactical Reclaim: Immediate-term breadth has experienced a violent positive shift. Across the domestic banking and retail complex, constituents are printing coordinated daily closes back above their 8-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), signaling an abrupt halt to institutional distribution. 🟩 🟢 ↗️ Banking Sector Liquidity Injection: The major banks successfully defended critical macro support levels. Standard Bank (SBK), FirstRand (FSR), and Absa (ABG) generated uniform +1.1% to +1.6% gains, breaking their short-term downtrends and reclaiming their 8-day EMAs in a single session. 🟨 🟡 ↔️ Retailers Hooking Up From the Basement: Battered apparel retailers Woolworths (WHL), Foschini Group (TFG), and Truworths (TRU) printed strong accumulation wicks, snapping back above their 8-day EMAs. However, they remain trapped beneath heavily descending 21-day and 75-day EMAs. 🟦 🔵 ⬆️ Insurance Sector Breakaway: The life and multi-line insurance complex has decoupled to the upside. Sanlam (SLM) exploded +5.48%, completely engulfing its 1-month distribution, while Santam (SNT) held its staggering +19% prior-session gains, expanding market breadth at the upper extreme. 🟥 🔴 ⬇️ Precious Metals Divergence: Gold and PGM miners are actively resisting the broader market bounce. Harmony (HAR), Impala (IMP), and Northam (NPH) printed consecutive lower lows, dragging sector breadth to near-zero as prices compress further beneath fully inverted moving average stacks. 🟨 🟡 ↘️ Diversified Miners Digest Gains: The global multi-commodity anchors (AGL, BHG, S32) absorbed mild profit-taking (−0.0% to −0.8%), cooling short-term breadth. They are now consolidating directly on top of their 8-day EMAs, digesting their massive multi-week runs without structural damage. 🟩 🟢 ↗️ Telecoms Base-Building Verified: Vodacom (VOD) (+1.61%) and MTN Group (MTN) (+2.09%) have successfully defended their multi-month horizontal support floors. Both have reclaimed their 21-day EMAs, expanding short-term breadth across the communications quadrant. 🟦 🔵 ⬆️ Chemicals & Energy Maintain Supremacy: Sasol (SOL) (+1.28%) and Omnia (OMN) (+0.20%) continue to display pristine breadth expansion, riding the upper bands of their 8-day EMAs without any significant mean-reverting pullbacks. 🟨 🟡 ↔️ Property Sector Rotational Churn: The listed property space is showing mixed short-term participation. High-yield domestic REITs (VKE, RES, RDF) are printing marginal positive ticks, but remain sandwiched tightly between their 8-day and 21-day EMAs in directionless churn. 🟥 🔴 ⬇️ Specialty Retail Capitulation Lingers: Despite the broader SA Inc. bounce, We Buy Cars (WBC) failed to reclaim its 8-day EMA. Though the velocity of the sell-off slowed (+2.15% daily bounce), the stock remains structurally impaired and isolated from the broader retail recovery.

  • S&P 500 Index

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 For our clients trading the S&P 500 Index. Disclosure: The commentary below was compiled using an artificial intelligence tool, based on my own data. As of October 6, 2026, the SPX 500 is trading at 7,813.88, up +0.48% for the session. The primary uptrend is exceptionally robust, with price action grinding steadily into new highs above a fully expanded, bullish moving average ribbon ⬆️. Our overall trend score sits at 90 out of 100, indicating immense relative strength, a powerful structural baseline, and active institutional accumulation. Looking at the Probability Assessment, all timeframes align in a strong secular bull market. The Monthly (Secular Cycle) outlook reflects a powerful macroeconomic expansion, holding a 95% bullish probability ⬆️. The Weekly (Structural Trend) view indicates a firmly entrenched uptrend with shallow corrections, holding a 90% bullish probability ⬆️. The Daily (Tactical Momentum) timeframe remains aggressively bullish at 85% ⬆️, reflecting consistent high-level continuation and sustained buying pressure. This underlying strength is starkly confirmed by the Moving Average Slopes. On the daily chart, price is riding high above a perfectly fanned ribbon. The tactical 8-Day EMA (7,733.13) and momentum 21-Day EMA (7,701.19) are tracking steeply upward, acting as dynamic support ⬆️. The structural 75-Day SMA (7,597.62) and primary 200-Day SMA (7,247.25) confirm a steepening cyclical bull market ⬆️. The weekly moving averages present a pristine stack of foundational support, with the fast weekly 8-Week (7,680.07), 21-Week (7,524.24), 50-Week (7,172.78), and distant long-term 200-Week (5,665.80) all ascending sequentially ⬆️. Overall price slope dynamics confirm a powerful secular and medium-term bullish trend ⬆️. The Candle Structure Profile highlights sustained, controlled buying pressure. The 1-Day structure reflects a steady bullish grind (+0.48%), keeping price comfortably perched above the 8-EMA. Looking at the 3-to-5-day profile, we see a tight high-level consolidation actively resolving upward into new territory. The 10-to-20-day profile confirms a structural stair-step advance, marked by very shallow pullbacks that are aggressively bought near the fast moving averages. Actionable Perspectives & Key Levels From a Mean Reversion standpoint, the asset is extended but trending powerfully; the actionable view is to Trail Stops / Let Profits Run 🟩⬆️. From a Momentum perspective, the perfectly aligned structural trend dictates a clear Buy on Dip / Accumulate on Pullbacks 🟩⬆️ approach for any tactical weakness. Key price boundaries dictating the current structure: Psychological Extension Target: 8,000.00 🔵 Tactical Support (8-Day EMA): 7,733.13 🟢 Momentum Base (21-Day EMA): 7,701.19 🟢 Structural Trendline (75-Day SMA): 7,597.62 🟢 Risks To Entering Buy/Long Positions At Current Levels: Mean Reversion Vulnerability: Price is significantly extended above its primary and structural baselines (such as the 200-Day SMA at 7,247.25), increasing the statistical probability of a sudden cooling-off period or mean-reverting pullback to digest recent gains. Psychological Resistance Proximity: Approaching the major 8,000.00 psychological level could trigger institutional profit-taking and localized supply, potentially capping near-term upside. Late-Stage Chasing: Entering after a prolonged, uncorrected parabolic advance leaves new longs vulnerable to even shallow tactical corrections that frequently occur within strong uptrends. Risks To Entering Sell/Short Positions At Current Levels: Fighting a Secular Bull: Shorting into a perfectly aligned, fully fanned moving average ribbon is inherently dangerous, as it directly opposes a powerful primary uptrend. Absence of Distribution: The candle structure currently shows no evidence of a topping pattern, lower highs, or institutional distribution; any short position relies purely on trying to guess an unpredictable top. Aggressive Dip-Buying: In this type of momentum regime, minor pullbacks are typically bought aggressively by market participants defending the fast moving averages (like the 8-Day EMA), leading to rapid short squeezes and immediate new highs.

  • 🎥Video Comment: Trading Standard Bank

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 Previous Post (18 September): Trading Standard Bank: Actionable Areas This note considers the next-best probability actionable areas from current levels. Resources (Where Applicable) READY TO TRADE: ACTIONABLE AREAS: For active traders who look to generate cash flow on a continuous basis, determining the ‘next-best probability’ level to execute against may be of immense value. The blue and red horizontal lines on the chart represent a next-best probability buy re-entry range and a next-best probability sell re-entry range over the short term. The ranges assume no existing position being held by a trader while the probabilities are based on several factors which may include: short term rating, medium term regime, momentum, horizontal or diagonal support/resistance, candle structure, moving averages and standard deviation, among others. These are short term levels and may be in contrast to medium and long term outlooks which are based on the weekly and monthly charts and, which may be applicable to long term investors. These levels are subject to change based on sentiment, the subsequent price action and company/sector specific or macro news flow. As always, while the levels are outlined, traders should be prepared to adjust in real-time based on the aforementioned. "Strategy Alerts" help clients identify trading opportunities. When a ticker's real-time or pre-market price action aligns with the criteria on a slide—such as a pullback to the 21-day EMA or a breakout from a consolidation base—it effectively "matches" that stock to the strategy, triggering an alert to a potential trading opportunity. This approach transforms the playbook into a dynamic scanning tool, allowing you to instantly categorize active stocks by the specific technical thesis playing out, ensuring that every trading potential opportunity communicated is backed by a predefined, actionable setup. THE TACTICAL TRADING GUIDE (PRICE ACTION MODEL): UNCOVER OPPORTUNITIES & ASSESS REWARD-TO-RISK It helps helps clients determine and shed light on the some of the following: The CURRENT TECHNICAL POSITION and a PRICE ACTION PROBABILITY for multiple time frames. Three (3) ‘trading’ time frames are considered: Short Term (1 to 10 days) / Medium Term (2 to 4 weeks) and Long Term (5 to 8 weeks) Whether the reward-to-risk is attractive for a buy/long position Whether a share is weak. In this case, wait until the price stabilizes before looking to enter (i.e. want until it stops going down) Whether aggressive buying is underway. In this case, do not ‘chase’ (do not buy) but instead wait for a pullback to re-enter a buy or an overextension with deteriorating candle structure to sell/short. Whether a trader can look to buy a pullback into a key moving average (continuation trade) Whether a share needs to break a range for a new trend to be determined (bullish or bearish) Whether a traders needs to monitor for a change of character that could lead to a bullish or bearish reversal Whether a share could start a consolidation phase or before continuing it’s bullish or bearish trend Whether the upward momentum is slowing (if it's in a bullish phase) Whether buyers can look to 'phase in' to a position (if it's in a bearish phase) Whether a share lacks directional bias. The data set is available in real-time (on request) The readings are subject to change as the price action develops. TRADING TIP # 1 Let The Candle Confirm Out of all those available, Candlestick Charts are the most widely used when it comes to analyzing price from a technical perspective. The interpretation thereof helps traders to understand the interaction between market participants and informs who is in control between buyers and sellers. Various types of candle formation convey key information about the range of outcomes for a share for example, following a downward trend, a long lower tail, doji, piercing or bullish engulfing suggests that buyers have started to become active/started to take an interest while following an upward trend, a long upper tail, doji, dark cloud cover or bearish engulfing suggests that sellers have started to become active/started to take an interest. While information is conveyed pre-market, it is the intraday price action that will confirm any trade or opportunity. While we have a plan, we are also ready to switch gears as the price action develops. TRADING TIP # 2: Failure & Reclaim FAILURE to hold a prior session high/range high may signal that the upside momentum is slowing and that an opportunity to short/sell may be at hand. This is often reflected via a deteriorating candle structure which suggests that sellers are starting to take control. Examples of such candles are long upper tails, doji's, dark cloud covers, bearish engulfing candles etc. RECLAIMING a prior session low/range may signal that the downside momentum is slowing and that an opportunity to buy may be at hand. This is often reflected via a improving candle structure which suggests that buyers have started to enter and are looking to take control of the price action. Examples of such candles are long lower tails, doji's, piercing candles, bullish engulfing candles etc. TRADING TIP # 3: Take Note of the 'Igniting Bar' This is a large green or red candle which suggests that traders should: TAKE NOTE note of the change in characters and potential change of the trend. TAKE NOTE of a potential acceleration of the trend. TAKE NOTE of potentially aggressive buy or selling Often, BIG MOVES start with BIG MOVES. Core Trading Principles: Short and Medium Term Trade with the primary trend. Volume Matters. This represents the interest of large institutional investors who have the ability to move a share, both up and down. Do not short/sell a share that is above, and in close proximity to it’s rising 8 and 21-day moving averages. This trend can persist for an extended period. Ultra short term traders, if a share has advanced strongly over a 3-7 day period, book profits. You can always re-enter and do the same trade at lower levels. If a share is printing a large bullish (green) candlestick following an extended move, use the strength to sell. The likelihood that the share retraces is high. If a share is printing a large bearish (red) candlestick following an extended move to the downside, use the weakness to start a long position. The likelihood that the share rebounds is high. Trade in the direction of the 20-day moving average, using the MA as a level to enter as well as a hard break thereof as a trailing stop-loss. The 8 and 21-day moving averages often act as support and resistance levels. When they are turning down, use them as levels to sell into. The opposite applies when they are turning up. The first back-test and undercut of the 50/75-day exponential moving average range has a high probability of holding as support or resistance. Buy or sell it for a 1-3 day move to generate cash flow. Stocks above a rising 200-day moving average spend the majority of their time trending higher. The opposite applies when the 200-day is trending down. Previous support can turn into resistance and previous resistance can turn to support. Use these zones as levels to trade against. Support and resistance levels and key moving averages are ranges rather than exact levels. They often overshoot these zones before occasionally reversing at these levels. Respect the FIB (Fibonacco) retracement zones. They often act as support and resistance levels. ‘PAY-tience Pays’, however be nimble to react to opportunity to cut when a trade hasn’t been working. Above all, know your time horizon. Lester Davids Senior Investment Analyst: Unum Capital

  • JSE Top 40 Index

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 For our clients trading JSE Top 40 Index. Disclosure: The analysis below was compiled using an artificial intelligence tool, based on my own data. Currently, price action for the JSE Top 40 Index is extending a localized stabilization attempt above the 101,000 threshold, trading near 101,032.70 after printing an intraday high of 101,410.13. The active daily candle is developing a modest bullish real body following a higher open at 100,681.15 and an intraday defense of 100,642.70. Responsive buyers continue to absorb selling pressure above the critical summer support line at 99,663.90, compressing daily volatility and seeking to confirm a short-term basing floor after late September's steep markdown. Looking at the broader macro structure, this basing sequence directly engages the major cyclical accumulation floor established between 99,663.90 and 100,500.00 during June and July. Although the overarching structural posture remains tilted defensively within an ongoing cyclical correction from the 122,000+ all-time highs, the successful defense of the macro summer baseline prevents an immediate structural collapse. The index is now navigating an inflection phase where buyers must clear overhead breakdown shelves to build a sustainable relief recovery. Best Probability Over 3 Days The index is favored to stage a continued mean-reversion recovery or lateral coiling phase between 100,800 and 103,400 as selling pressure remains muted following the rejection of sub-100k prices. A shallow expansion toward the first major technical resistance shelf at 103,407.65 is probable over the coming sessions. Given the cluster of trapped liquidity overhead, buying velocity is likely to encounter initial friction and decelerate as price probes the 102,800 – 103,400 zone. Risks of Entering a Buy/Long Position at Current Levels Trading Counter to Dominant Momentum: Long positions taken here are attempting to catch an early reversal against a steep multi-week markdown that has not yet reclaimed a major daily swing high. Formidable Overhead Supply Ceilings: Broken structural shelves at 103,407.65 and 105,592.36 represent dense bands where trapped long participants will seek breakeven exits, limiting upside velocity. Air-Pocket Risk Below 99,663.90: A daily close below the 99,663.90 summer base risks triggering a secondary stop cascade down toward 97,350.00 before authentic institutional bidding re-emerges. Risks of Entering a Sell/Short Position at Current Levels Severe Downside Momentum Extension: Following a nearly 11,000-point liquidation with minimal counter-trend retracement, momentum indicators are technically stretched and vulnerable to a sharp short-covering squeeze. Proximity to Macro Support Floor: Shorting near 101,000 places entries immediately above the 99,663.90 institutional accumulation base that launched the multi-month summer advance. Unfavorable Asymmetric Location: Initiating fresh short exposure near current lows requires placing protective stops above 103,450.00 or 104,500.00 to survive routine basing noise, severely degrading the trade's risk-to-reward ratio.

  • U.S. Dollar / South African Rand: 3-Day Forecast + Key Long/Short Risks

Research: October 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/roct2026 Disclosure: The commentary below was compiled using an artificial intelligence tool, based on my own data. Currently, price action for USD/ZAR is undergoing a corrective consolidation near the 16.56 level, with the active daily candle printing a modest red real body after pulling back from an intraday high of 16.66. Downside momentum remains controlled as price retraces toward the dynamic support ribbon, testing the fast EMA cluster near 16.52. Following an aggressive breakout impulse that peaked near 16.78 late last week, responsive sellers have stepped in to take profits, while buyers are tentatively defending the former resistance-turned-support zone. Looking at the broader macro structure, USD/ZAR remains bound within a wide, multi-month consolidation bracket between the 15.90 cyclical floor and the 17.20 – 17.30 annual highs established earlier in 2026. Having successfully reclaimed its long-term moving average cluster (16.32 – 16.38), the intermediate trend has rotated back into a constructive posture. However, the inability to instantly penetrate the 16.80 structural barrier keeps the market within a secondary retest phase to determine whether this pullback forms a higher low or rotates back into summer value. Best Probability Over 3 Days Price is favored to test and stabilize within the 16.48 – 16.55 dynamic support band as the fast moving average ribbon catches up to price. Given the deceleration in selling spreads over the past two sessions, downward momentum should begin to compress around the 16.50 psychological pivot. A successful defense of this shelf on a daily closing basis will likely initiate a responsive bounce back toward the 16.68 – 16.75 corridor. Risks of Entering a Buy/Long Position at Current Levels Active Intraday Pullback Pressure: Price has printed three consecutive lower daily highs, meaning early long entries are stepping in before a clear daily reversal bar or bullish engulfing candle has formed. Trapped Overhead Supply at 16.75: The sharp rejection off the recent peak leaves an immediate ceiling where traders who chased the breakout will look to exit at breakeven. Deep MA Retest Risk: If the initial 16.50 shelf fails to hold, price could slide an additional 20–25 cents toward the 16.32 moving average baseline before authentic structural support arrives. Risks of Entering a Sell/Short Position at Current Levels Trading Against Strong Primary Momentum: Initiating shorts here fights a powerful multi-week recovery trend that recently reclaimed the 200-day SMA and established a rising ribbon structure. Proximity to Dynamic Trend Support: Selling into 16.56 places positions immediately above the dynamic MA ribbon (16.38 – 16.52), which offers a high-probability zone for responsive buyer re-engagement. Poor Asymmetric Trade Location: Placing logical stops above the 16.78 swing high results in an unfavorable risk-to-reward ratio against intermediate targets around 16.45 – 16.50.
