Today, a new high of R497 on the back it's Capital Markets update. Below, a slide from recent report. Previous Post (Friday, 14 March): Trading Bid Corp The current price action model reading is as follows: Previous Post (05 March) Bid Corp: Generate Cash With An Active Approach Well done to clients who are capitalizing on the opportunities at hand. BID Corp has given clients opportunity on both the long (buy) and short (sell) side. The share has retreated by over 9% since recently entering an overbought range close to R480, as mentioned on 31 January (see time-stamped comment/note below). The end of day price action model reading on 31 January also warned traders that aggressive buying was underway but that they should NOT chase/buy as there was a risk of a pullback (the time-stamped reading is shown below). After A 6000c Rebound, This Is The Next Key Level To Monitor. To accelerate momentum, R470 remains a key level / now attempting to break above this level / in the short term, it has entered an overbought range. Note: It been flat for 12 months hence you could say it's not overextended. Exposure to Europe and UK + stronger ZAR has weighed however, if EUR & UK turn positive, the share could start to reflect the positive change in sentiment. [The original model reading (31-October), which highlighted the probability for a rebound, is shown further below on this page] BID Daily Chart as of Friday 31 January at 15h29 Clients will recall our model reading reading looking for a rebound 31 October (Note Published: Thursday 31 October 2024). Research Notes For 26 to 30 May > https://www.unum.capital/post/r2630may Trade Local & Global Financial Markets with Unum Capital. To get started, email tradingdesk@unum.co.za Discovery Holdings (DSY) has previously given clients opportunities on both the buy (long) and sell (short) side. There's a chance that the share could lose short term momentum and fail to hold it's highs however, traders should also be open to the possibility of a test of the upper boundary of what appears to be a MEGAPHONE technical formation. This range is approximately between R223 and R230 - a level at which it could become extremely overbought in the short term. If it trades at that range, we should be considering a short/sell trade meaning, potentially taking a position which takes advantage of a bearish reversal from overbought conditions. Let's stay flexible & let's get ready to trade. Note: Levels subject to change as the news flow and price action develops. To get started, email tradingdesk@unum.co.za This is an update on the previous posts where we highlighted the ACTIONABLE AREAS. Scroll further down to view the original posts. Do you recall the recent market volatility i.e. early April (Thursday 03, Friday 04 and Monday 07 April)? The share traded into the buy range, then overshot on the downside which was followed by a rally. Today, the share has continued to rally on the group's trading statement. We also saw triggers in the lows (Thursday, 03 April) where the model highlighted that the share was becoming attractive for a small buy/long position. Previous Post: Trading Dis-Chem Pharmacies: Actionable Areas We discussed DCP on 07 January as part of a note where the 200-day SMA was a focus. A bearish divergence was highlighted and we have since seen the share decline from 3720 to Friday's low of 3233, a decline of 13%. Running the price action model, there are some early triggers that suggest the share is becoming attractive for a small buy/long position. We combine this with a manual view of actionable areas which can be found further down this page. DCP Actionable Areas Previous Post (07 January): WORTH NOTING: 200-Day Developments (Tiger Brands, Outsurance, Mr. Price & More) I used Artificial Intelligence to provide an explanation on why the 200-day SMA is significant. Here's what it had to say: The 200-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) is a widely used technical indicator in trading. It calculates the average closing price of an asset over the past 200 trading days, providing a smoothed representation of price movements. This smoothing effect helps traders identify longer-term trends amidst daily price fluctuations. Key Developments and Implications: Support and Resistance: When the price of an asset is above the 200-day SMA, it often acts as a support level. Conversely, when the price is below the 200-day SMA, it can act as resistance. Trend Confirmation: A sustained move above the 200-day SMA can signal a bullish trend, while a sustained move below it can indicate a bearish trend. Crossovers: Crossovers between the price and the 200-day SMA can generate trading signals. For example, a price crossing above the 200-day SMA might be interpreted as a bullish signal, while a cross below could be seen as bearish. Time Frame: The 200-day SMA is a long-term indicator, typically used to analyze trends over several months or even years. In Summary: The 200-day SMA is a valuable tool for traders and investors to: Identify long-term trends Determine support and resistance levels Generate trading signals Assess the overall market sentiment By understanding the 200-day SMA and its implications, traders can make more informed decisions about their investment strategies. - Palladium: Retesting The 200d; Triggers Above $1042
Research Notes For 26 to 30 May > https://www.unum.capital/post/r2630may Trade Local & Global Financial Markets with Unum Capital. To get started, email tradingdesk@unum.co.za A flat 200-day moving average is often accompanied by a price that is rangebound i.e. struggling to find direction. Whilst it can be frustrating in the short term, traders should remain alert to the potential for strength (or weakness) on the lower time frames which may be indicative of renewed buying (or selling) interest. In the case of Palladium, the commodity has rebound from below the 200-day SMA to above, and in recent sessions has unwind in from ultra short term overbought to re-test the 200-day SMA. If we start to see strength on the lower time frame and a break above the $1042 level, this could be a trigger for further upside, with the medium term target being the prior swing highs of $1252. Research Notes For 26 to 30 May > https://www.unum.capital/post/r2630may Trade Local & Global Financial Markets with Unum Capital. To get started, email tradingdesk@unum.co.za How To Trade Sasol, and Recent Opportunities via the Price Action Model The share has had a strong rebound off the 09 April lows (5301c) to it's recent high of 8662c. In the process, the 50-day EMA was reclaimed with strong candle structure reflecting strong buying interest. The current two-day retracement (from +8600c to 7900c) appears to be the start of a re-test of the 50-day exponential moving average (which has now started to turn up). For active traders looking for a buy re-entry range, the 50-day EMA (at or just below) is a provisional range. We are marking 6900c to 7300c for now. The 200-day SMA continues to trend down, which could act as a temporary resistance range. Recent Opportunities: Time-stamped examples from the price action model. INTO THE LOWS (04 April): "Aggressive selling underway, however the buy/long reward-to-risk may be attractive". INTO THE HIGHS (20 & 21 May): "Aggressive buying underway but overbought on the lower time frames. Expect a consolidation or a minor retracement".
