- Shoprite: Monthly MACD Development
Trade Shoprite Holdings (SHP) with Unum Capital. To get started, email lester@unum.co.za While the short term is starting to signal oversold readings, it's also worth zooming out to notice the bearish MACD Crossover and 5-year incline support being breached. SHP Monthly Chart as of Thursday 03 April 2025 at 20h17 Previous Post: Shoprite: Marked Down - Tuesday, 03 September 2024 Real-Time: 10h38 Ticker: SHP The +31400c level was 'penciled in' as a level to monitor for an entry on the short/sell side. This is where sellers stepped in, from which have seen a sell-off down to 29542c at today's low (thus far). The group's earnings release has acted as a catalyst for the selling pressure. My original view is shown below: Previous Post: (01 August) : Overbought Near Key Inflection Points Real-Time: 10h38 Shoprite Holdings (SHP) ABOUT THE TACTICAL TRADING GUIDE: Technology + Proprietary Insights has helped to develop automated tools and strategies that are used to identify potential trading opportunities as well as highlight potentially significant technical developments across various time frames. This page highlights readings from our Tactical Trading Guide (Price Action Tool) which is also available as a live tool via the telegram group. The tool provides automated price analysis for any tradeable instrument across 3 time frames : short (short term), medium (medium term) and long (long term). Readings are subject to change , based on the development of the subsequent price action. The tool helps to determine and shed light on the some of the following: A price action probability for the given time frame. Three (3) ‘trading’ time frames are considered: Short Term (1 to 10 days) / Medium Term (2 to 4 weeks) and Long Term (5 to 8 weeks) Whether the reward-to-risk is attractive for a buy/long position Whether a share is weak. In this case, wait until the price stabilizes before looking to enter (i.e. want until it stops going down) Whether aggressive buying is underway. In this case, do not ‘chase’ (do not buy) but instead wait for a pullback to re-enter a buy or an overextension with deteriorating candle structure to sell/short. Whether a trader can look to buy a pullback into a key moving average (continuation trade) Whether a share needs to break a range for a new trend to be determined (bullish or bearish) Whether a traders needs to monitor for a change of character that could lead to a bullish or bearish reversal Whether a share could start a consolidation phase or before continuing it’s bullish or bearish trend Whether the upward momentum is slowing (if it's in a bullish phase) Whether buyers can look to 'phase in' to a position (if it's in a bearish phase) Whether a share lacks directional bias.
- JSE Relative Sector Summaries
Trade JSE Shares with Unum Capital. To get started, email lester@unum.co.za *Data as of Friday, 04 April (pre-market). Key Takeaways: Technology is the strongest sector, showing consistent bullish momentum across all timeframes. Gold Miners are consistently overbought, indicating a potential sell opportunity. Many sectors (Miners, Banks, Insurers, Consumer Staples, Consumer Discretionary, Healthcare, Paper & Pulp, Chemicals) exhibit short-term oversold conditions , which could lead to temporary bounces. However, the overarching trend in most of these sectors is bearish. Telecoms show long-term strength but have a neutral short-term outlook. Luxury Goods are neutral across all timeframes, indicating a lack of clear direction. Legend Interpretation: Strong: Generally a buy signal. Neutral: Hold, or be cautious. Weak: Generally a sell signal. High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold: Potential for a short-term bounce or reversal, but still bearish overall. Consider buying cautiously for short-term gains, but be aware of the overall weakness. High Bullish Momentum/Approaching Overbought: Potential for a pullback or correction. Consider selling or taking profits, as the bullish momentum might not be sustainable. Oversold: Potential for a short-term bounce or reversal. Consider buying for short-term gains. Overbought: Potential for a pullback or correction. Consider selling or taking profits. JSE Sector Analysis: 1. Miners vs Top 40 Short Term: Weak (Sell) Medium Term: Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Long Term: High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Overall: Weak with Short-Term Bounce Potential. While long and medium terms suggest potential for a bounce due to oversold conditions, the short-term weakness indicates caution. Consider short-term trades only if you see confirmation of a reversal. 3. Banks vs Top 40 Short Term: Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Medium Term: Weak (Sell) Long Term: Weak (Sell) Overall: Weak with Short-Term Bounce Potential. Similar to Miners, the oversold short-term condition might offer a brief trading opportunity, but the overall trend is bearish. 4. Insurers vs Top 40 Short Term: High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Medium Term: Weak (Sell) Long Term: Neutral (Hold/Cautious) Overall: Weak with Short-Term Bounce Potential. Gold Miners vs Top 40 Short Term: Overbought (Sell) Medium Term: Overbought (Sell) Long Term: High Bullish Momentum/Approaching Overbought (Potential Sell) Overall: Sell. The sector is consistently overbought across all timeframes, indicating a high risk of a pullback or correction. It's advisable to take profits or avoid this sector. 6. Platinum Miners vs Top 40 Short Term: Weak (Sell) Medium Term: Neutral (Hold/Cautious) Long Term: Neutral (Hold/Cautious) Overall: Weak. The short-term weakness is the dominant factor. The neutral medium and long terms don't offer enough support to counteract the bearish short-term signal. 7. Consumer Staples vs Top 40 Short Term: High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Medium Term: Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Long Term: Weak (Sell) Overall: Weak with Short-Term Bounce Potential. The short and medium terms suggest a possible bounce, but the long-term weakness indicates a need for caution. 8. Consumer Disc. vs Top 40 Short Term: High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Medium Term: Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Long Term: Weak (Sell) Overall: Weak with Short-Term Bounce Potential. Healthcare vs Top 40 Short Term: Weak (Sell) Medium Term: Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Long Term: High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Overall: Weak with Short-Term Bounce Potential. The short-term weakness is the primary concern. The oversold conditions in the medium and long term might offer a temporary reprieve, but the overall trend is bearish. 10. Hospitals vs Top 40 Short Term: Weak (Sell) Medium Term: High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Long Term: Weak (Sell) Overall: Weak. The short and long-term weakness outweigh the potential for a bounce in the medium term. 11. Coal Miners vs Top 40 Short Term: Weak (Sell) Medium Term: High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Long Term: Weak (Sell) Overall: Weak. Similar to Hospitals, the short and long-term weakness dominate. 12. Telecoms vs Top 40 Short Term: Neutral (Hold/Cautious) Medium Term: Strong (Buy) Long Term: Strong (Buy) Overall: Neutral with Long-Term Strength. While the short-term is neutral, the strong medium and long-term outlook suggests potential for growth. However, the short-term neutrality warrants careful monitoring. 13. Paper & Pulp vs Top 40 Short Term: Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Medium Term: High Bearish Momentum/Approaching Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Long Term: Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Overall: Potential for Short-Term Bounce. All timeframes indicate oversold conditions, suggesting a potential bounce. However, the lack of strong bullish signals means this should be considered a short-term trade only. 14. Chemicals vs Top 40 Short Term: Weak (Sell) Medium Term: Weak (Sell) Long Term: Oversold (Potential Buy for Short-Term Bounce) Overall: Weak with Potential for Short-Term Bounce. The short and medium-term weakness is concerning. The long-term oversold condition might offer a trading opportunity, but the overall trend is bearish. 15. Luxury Goods vs Top 40 Short Term: Neutral (Hold/Cautious) Medium Term: Neutral (Hold/Cautious) Long Term: Neutral (Hold/Cautious) Overall: Neutral. This sector shows no clear directional bias. It's best to hold or avoid until a clearer trend emerges. Lester Davids Analyst: Unum Capital

- JSE Top 40 Index: Retreating From Medium Term Inflection Point
Trade the Top 40 Index with Unum Capital. To get started, email lester@unum.co.za Our initial view considered the rising trend line resistance as an inflection point for the index i.e. a potential resistance zone within the upward trend. The price did not trade into that level but has instead rolled over earlier than expected, with the selling pressure now evident by the large intraday decline. The index has shifted to below the 50-day however remains above the 75-day EMA for now. (Comment as of Thursday 03 April at 13h52). See the previous post below: Previous Post (Thursday 20 March at 14h44): Trading Top 40: Have You Considered This Angle? The upper boundary of the channel represents a potential medium term resistance range (i.e. a level at which the price could trade into, then consolidate. If it becomes overbought on a weekly basis, this could coincide with the potential for a retracement. Lester Davids Analyst: Unum Capital

Trade Local & Global Financial Markets with Unum Capital. To get started, email lester@unum.co.za For the active trader, looking to generate cash flow, there's always opportunity. A as noted 11570c to 11665c was a range. Get In. Get Out. Get Paid. Trading Note (published after market close on 01 April): Impala Platinum IMP in a strong upward trend however note the bearish engulfing candle i.e. outside bar which may be signaling the potential start of a short term loss of momentum. Closed below the 8-day EMA for the first time since 04 March. Both the 21-day EMA and 50-day EMA continues to trend higher while the 21-day EMA is above the 50-day EMA (positive). On an intraday basis, my best probability range for buyers to step in is at the 21-day EMA. Say, 11570c to 11665c . These levels are subject to change based on the subsequent price action and news flow. Ultra Short Term: The 21-day EMA (at or just below) is a range to watch. Short Term: The 50-day EMA/75-day EMA is a level of interest should a deeper pullback occur.
