  • Thungela Resources: Have You Considered This Angle?

Trade   Thungela Resources   with Unum Capital. To get started, email   lester@unum.co.za Until We See Change, This Is A Negative Development. Zooming out, clients will notice the share price testing the R100 level for the 3rd time in 13 months. With poor candle structure as per the weekly chart, this structure remains negative until we see a strong bullish reversal that negates the bearish candle structure. Long-time clients of Unum Capital will recall the chart below which highlights TGA relative to the broader market. Here the view was that the momentum was being lost and that a bearish reversal was underway. At the time, the share traded at R289. Now R100. Previous Post: Thungela Resources: Zooming Out - Wednesday, 04 September 2024 The share is breaching multi-month incline support. Downside risk targets 9100c, then 8300c. The price remains below all major medium term moving average, including below the 200-day SMA. For short term traders, the swing lows at 10000c is a key range to monitor, however, this is also a psychological level (round number theory) which traders/investors will be monitoring for any further weakness. On a long term basis, the share is lower by 60% vs October 2022 where I published a relative chart highlighted the breakdown vs the Top 40 index. At the time, the print was R289 vs R110 today. My then, as published, is shown below: Lester Davids Analyst: Unum Capital

Trade   Local & Global Financial Markets with Unum Capital. To get started, email   lester@unum.co.za *Weekly Time Frame* *Monthly Time Frame* The indicator is a custom-built risk and sentiment index, designed to assess market risk appetite, including whether sentiment is at an extreme position (i.e. excessively bullish or excessively bearish). Components: Copper: Copper often serves as a proxy for global economic activity. A decline in copper prices could signal slowing economic growth, increasing risk. High Beta vs Low Beta: High beta stocks tend to be more volatile than low beta stocks. A widening spread between high and low beta returns might indicate increased risk aversion. Growth vs Value: Growth stocks typically outperform value stocks in bull markets. A shift towards value stocks could suggest investors are becoming more cautious. EM Currencies: Emerging market currencies can be sensitive to risk appetite. A weakening of EM currencies could signal increased risk aversion. AUD/USD: The Australian Dollar is often used as a proxy for global risk sentiment. A decline in AUD/USD could indicate increased risk aversion. Consumer Staples vs Consumer Discretionary: Consumer staples are generally considered defensive assets. A shift towards consumer staples could suggest investors are seeking safety. U.S. Dollar Index (Inverse): A strengthening US Dollar often signals a flight to safety, suggesting increased risk aversion.

  • TRADING THE NUMBERS: U.S. Non-Farm Payrolls

Trade   Global Markets   with Unum Capital. To get started, email   lester@unum.co.za Developments in the US labor market and the broader US economy is one of the key data points which the U.S Federal Reserve considers in it's decision to either hold, cut or raise interest rates. For example, a buoyant labor market is associate with a strong economy, which has the ability to place upward pressure on inflation and in turn, requires higher interest rates. This economic scenario is a positive for those looking for a higher US Dollar which will benefit from higher interest rates and possibly higher interest rate differentials. Conversely, a weak labor market is associate with a slowing economy, which has the ability to place downward pressure on inflation and in turn, leaves room for the lower interest rates. This economic scenario is a positive for those looking for a lower US Dollar which becomes a casualty of lower interest rates and possibly lower interest rate differentials. For example, versus the European Union. The data point, U.S Non-farm Payrolls will be released at 3:30pm on Friday 04 April. It is highly anticipated and is closely monitored by market participants from every corner of the globe. The reaction to the release creates volatility around selected instruments, however this also creates opportunities to trade and potentially derive at a profit. The consensus is for the U.S. economy to have added 128,000 jobs for the month of March. Missing these expectations or coming in line is likely to place pressure on the USD while print well above this figure could support continued buying activity in the USD. Among others, here are three instruments by which traders can participant in and potentially profit from as the market positions and reacts to the release. Shown below are the daily charts, with potential direction should the payrolls come in line, miss or exceeded consensus expectations. 1. FX: EUR/USD 2. Spot Gold XAUUSD 3. • '..And Then I Sold The Share For A Profit...'

It goes without saying that one the best outcomes for a trader is banking for a profit. Yes, I know you might have a process with rules that determines whether a trade is good or bad but knowing that you've just made some real money is a feeling that we can all resonate with. Look at Capitec Bank. On Thursday morning we published a note which highlighted the probabilities over the 3 time frames. It also showed the share being in a high bullish momentum regime while approaching overbought. Consider this, the short term data stated the following: "Buyers in in control, but do NOT chase...if it does hold the highs, the 8-EMA may be a short/sell target. To add, the medium term data stated the following: "Aggressive buying but, do NOT chase...if it does hold the highs, the 8-EMA may be a short/sell target. This reading was taken just after the open where we already started to see some weakness as the share was failing to hold it's highs. The share closed below the prior session lows and then on Friday the weakness continued as the entire week's range lows were taken out. The move? About a 5% decline from the time of the note. If you're trading leveraged product such as a Contract For Difference (CFD), then the move is a multiple of that. This information is an opportunity, for you. This information is profit, for you. If you're not capitalizing on these opportunities, ask yourself: "could I be missing out of money-making opportunities?". Most recently we also discussed CPI in the following note: " 2 Risks + 2 Opportunities " > https://www.unum.capital/post/cpi-two Trade   Capitec Bank & other JSE Shares   with Unum Capital. • U.S. Tech: Why Ratio Charts Are A Part Of Our Process

If you're wondering why ratio charts matter and are often featured in our research, the performance of high beta shares relative to low volatility demonstrates why. Since July (see initial note below), the long-time market leaders i.e. U.S technology shares have UNDERPERFORMED the broader market. Ratio charts help traders understand which sectors or stocks to position themselves in for relative OUTPERFORMANCE and what to sell to avoid relative UNDERPERFORMANCE. Previous Post (30 July 2024) - Positioning: High Beta vs Low Volatility The chart highlights the S&P 500 High Beta ETF (SPHB) relative to the S&P 500 Low Volatility ETF (SPLV). Zooming out, my analysis highlights the failure of high beta shares to hold above the prior swing highs, while momentum (as per the 14-week RSI) is nearing a breach of the upward trend. Bottom Line: Investors appear to be positioning themselves within low volatility shares/sectors while rotating out of shares/sector with a higher beta. Lester Davids Analyst: Unum Capital
