  • How To Trade: Sasol Ltd

Trade   Sasol Ltd   with Unum Capital. To get started, email   lester@unum.co.za Among the various technical considerations that the price action model provides, one of the most common is informing traders when NOT to chase a share. In other words, when NOT to buy as the potential for a pullback is great and that the reward-to-risk is unappealing. Reviewing the model in the evening, the automated guide gives us readings which go along the lines of "Aggressive buying, but do not chase..." If you follow my model, then you've seen it many times before. Such was the case with Sasol on Friday evening where the model for the short term (1 to 10 days) was as follows: "Aggressive buying is underway, but do not chase. Look for the share to overshoot or fail to hold the prior session highs to short/sell back to the 8-day EMA". The time-stamped model reading is shown below: What has subsequently occurred? Sasol failed to hold Friday's highs and has experienced a sharp bearish reversal on Monday (20-January) as well as yesterday (21-January). If you are a short term trader, this seemingly insignificant piece of information has the ability to help you do the two things our research strives to do: (1) manage risk (protect capital) and (2) uncover opportunity (make money) .  As of yesterday's close, the model is as follows: Take note of the short term reading: "The share is consolidating within an upward trend. If the 8-day EMA has been breached, use the 21-day EMA as a potential buy range". Medium term: no reading available. Take note of the long term reading: "Strong attempt at a bullish reversal following an aggressive sell-off" On the chart below, the 21-EMA is white sloping line. This is also in line with the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement zone. These levels are subject to change as the price action/news flow develops or as the underlying commodity adjusts. • FirstRand Has Rebounded By 7%. We Shouldn't Be Surprised.

Trade   FirstRand Ltd   with Unum Capital. To get started, email   lester@unum.co.za Well done to traders who may have managed to capitalize on the moves, both on the short (sell) and long (buy) side. On Sunday, 12 January, I published the note on FSR, highlighting the model reading which stated that the share had become attractive for a buy/long position (short term: 1 to 10 days). On Monday, the share traded lower, giving traders an opportunity to accumulate. What was even more interesting was the end of day reading on that same day (Monday 13 January), which stated the following for the 5 to 8 week reading: "The share is trading in a weak to sideways consolidation range. It recently experienced a sell-off. Expect a small rebound ." The time-stamped reading is highlighted below. Previous Post: Sunday 12 January (Trading Firstrand? Here's What You Need To Know) FSR breaching six-month horizontal support. It's possible that the share could experience false breakdown, followed by a rally back into the declining moving averages before turning lower again. Note: The 200-day moving average remains in a gradual upward trend. This is a positive factor in the short to medium term. Analyst's Price Action Model What's the overall outlook for FSR based on this model? The outlook is currently mixed. In the short term, we see bearish momentum and the stock is approaching oversold territory. However, the reward-to-risk ratio is becoming attractive for a small long position. Can you elaborate on the short-term outlook? In the 7-day trend, FSR is showing high bearish momentum. It's also getting close to being oversold, which could indicate a potential reversal. And what about the medium-term? For the 14-day trend, we see a very bearish outlook. Aggressive selling is expected, and we're waiting for lower time frames to stabilize before making any moves. What about the long-term? The long-term trend is also bearish. We're seeing aggressive selling following a steady upward trend. We're looking for support at prior swing lows to capture minor rebounds. So, what's the recommended course of action? Given the mixed signals, we recommend a cautious approach. A small long position could be considered due to the improving reward-to-risk ratio, but we'll need to monitor the situation closely and wait for lower time frames to stabilize before making any significant moves. • How To Trade: Gold Fields (GFI)

Trade   Gold Fields   with Unum Capital. To get started, email   lester@unum.co.za Analyst's Price Action Model as of 16h26 The Price Action Model, Explained: Overall Trend: The overall trend for GOLD FIELDS is Bullish. Current Trends: 7-Day Trend: High Bullish Momentum / Approaching Overbought 14-Day Trend: Very Bullish Short-Term Opportunity: There is a limited opportunity for a short-term buy/long position. The image cautions against chasing the highs and suggests that if the price doesn't hold above the 8-EMA, it could be a short-sell target. Medium-Term Outlook (2 to 4 weeks): The medium-term outlook is also Bullish, but it advises against chasing the price. It suggests looking for an overshoot or failure to hold prior session range highs as a potential short-sell opportunity back to the 8-EMA. Long-Term Outlook (5 to 8 weeks): The long-term outlook is also Bullish. The image suggests that if the price pulls back, it could be an opportunity to accumulate within a bullish regime. In Summary: GOLD FIELDS is currently in a strong bullish trend across all timeframes. However, the image advises caution against chasing the price and suggests looking for potential short-sell opportunities if the price fails to hold key levels. The long-term outlook remains bullish, with potential accumulation zones if the price pulls back. Analyst View: The share is in a high bullish regime while also approaching an overbought range. Short Term: price has rallied from ~R247 to ~R298. The share trades above it's rising 8-day EMA however, any further rally could see the share becoming extended versus it's rising 21-EMA which could place the share firmly in overbought range. The aforementioned would open the potential for a mean-reversion short/sell (ideally for ultra short term/active traders). Note: the share has retraced it's move from it's peak/trough and currently trades at the 61.8% Fibonacci range. Lester Davids Analyst: Unum Capital (Published at 17h28 on Tuesday, 21 January 2025)

Required: Improved candle structure (i.e. possibly an igniting bar that would alert traders to 'take note'). WHL Daily Chart as of Tuesday 21 January at 15h10 Analyst's Price Action Model as of Tuesday 21 January at 15h10 Previous Post: Woolworths: Price & Trend Analysis Analyst's Price Action Mode With Assessment For 3x Time Frames Overview: When we look at the short-term price action over the last 7 days, we see a clear weakness. This is confirmed by the 14-day trend, which shows aggressive selling. Essentially, the price has been steadily declining over the past two weeks. Medium Term Outlook: The medium-term picture is still bearish, but with a caveat. We're seeing persistent weakness, but there's a glimmer of hope. If the price can reclaim the prior session's lows, it could signal a potential bullish reversal. However, we need to monitor this closely on lower time frames to confirm any such move. Long-Term Perspective: The long-term trend is also bearish. We need to wait for the price to stabilize on the lower time frames before we can reassess. Until then, the outlook remains cautious. WHL is facing headwinds across all time frames. What should investors be watching for? Investors should keep a close eye on the price action on lower time frames. If we see a sustained break above the prior session's lows, it could signal a potential shift in the trend. However, until then, caution is warranted. Lester Davids Analyst: Unum Capital
