  • MONDI Plc: Setting Up For Potential Relative Outperformance - Tuesday, 16 July 2024

Ticker(s): MNP, J200 Relative, or ratio charts as it is sometimes known, helps market participants to compare the performance of two instruments with the primary aim of ascertaining whether one is outperforming the other. For example, a ratio chart can help understand whether Banks or Insurers are underperforming or outperforming the Top 40 index. This can help a trader/investor recognize the potential risk or opportunity and help position to be underweight, overweight or equal weight. Considering the ratio chart of MONDI vs the JSE TOP 40 INDEX (first chart below), the following is observed: (1) the current trend is gradual, with the price nearing an entry to a high bullish momentum regime (2) the ratio has been trading all-time highs, however 'only' in a sideways range since December (2023). Takeaway: Going forward, on a medium term basis, Mondi is likely to outperform the JSE TOP 40 INDEX / broader market. The slide below is an extract from my report on Monday, 15 July 2024. • A Client Enquired About MTN. This Was My Response - Monday, 15 July 2024

Hi Lester,   I hope you are well.   Do you have any analysis on MTN? Hi ___ - I trust you're well.    This R80 level has been tested since March, which has held however, such persistent tests make a share vulnerable to the level being breached, especially when there is poor candle structure (such as today). The share also remains below its declining 21-week EMA, which could act as a headwind in the short term. The R78 to R80 level appears to be getting weak and if we break below, the momentum could accelerate to the downside.    When will I get bullish? When it stops going down and when it it starts to trade with strong price action above R83, and even more so above R88.   For now, the buy/long risk appears elevated (avoid). • Exxaro Resources (EXX): Reduce Into Strength - Tuesday, 16 July 2024

Tuesday, 16 July 2024: Exxaro Resources (EXX) - Short term, reduce previous buy trigger into this strength. The 7-day RSI is now at 90 (most overbought in the top 100). PREVIOUS POST: Friday, 05 July 2024: Exxaro Resources (EXX) The strong candle structure means that, over the medium term, momentum has as strong chance of continuing. On Friday, 28 June, I highlighted the previous day's strong candle structure that saw the share close near the highs of the day and with the swing pivot being a trigger to add to the position. From 17668c, the share saw a strong advance, reaching a high of 19056c, which is just below a multi-week horizontal resistance level. Considering a lack of price progress year-to-date, this makes for an appealing technical setup for those with a higher time frame i.e. medium term. The projected upside target is R206. Note: We could see a short term pullback before a new break up takes place. What I published: How it's going: I previously recommended EXX as a buy at R140-R145 just under 1 year ago (August 2023). We subsequently saw a move to R205 (from August to December). • Foretelling Friday: Nasdaq and Tech Sector Dynamics

This week, all eyes are on the Nasdaq as we assess the impact of the recent US CPI release and subsequent interest rate cut expectations. After the CPI release last Thursday, interest rate cuts have been priced in, causing the Nasdaq to fall while the US Russel 2000 made significant gains. The key question now is: Will the Nasdaq continue to decline due to increased interest rate cut expectations, fueling gains in other indices such as the Russell 2000, or will the AI and tech sectors sustain their bullish rally? Key factors to monitor include policy announcements, shifts in market sentiment, and performance of the AI and tech sectors. The tech sector's resilience and innovation could play a crucial role in determining whether the Nasdaq will rebound or if the trend will favour other indices. Participate in our poll by visiting our social media platforms ! We'd love to hear your thoughts. Poll: 1.  The Nasdaq will lose momentum and fund other indices’ gains. 2. The tech sector is robust and will remain on an upward trajectory. 3.  The tech sector will remain flat   Stay informed and be ready to capitalise on these trends with Unum Capital, Your Profit Partner.
