  • Trading Spot Silver

Research Notes January 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/rjan2026 Trade   Local & Global Financial Markets with Unum Capital. To get started, email   tradingdesk@unum.co.za Tuesday, 27 January 2026 Time: 11h46 Closing Price:  $112.92 1D Change:  +8.87% Multi-Frame Action:  🟢 Parabolic (D) 🟢 Vertical (W) 🟢 Vertical (M) Technical Upside:  Blue Sky Breakout. Trading in a vacuum with no historical resistance. Target:  $120.00 – $125.00. Psychological Magnet / Momentum Extension. Momentum Signal:  "Lock-Out" Extreme. Risk / Invalidation:  Close below $100.00 (Psychological Breakout Level). Valuation Basket:  Short Squeeze / Monetary Debasement / Industrial Panic Primary Driver:  "Silver Squeeze" dynamics, aggressive catch-up trade to Gold, and industrial inventory panic. MARKET STRUCTURE & VOLUME VALIDATION Volume Profile:  The price action is effectively vertical, indicating a total collapse of sell-side liquidity. This is a classic "melt-up" scenario where short sellers are forced to cover at any price, and buyers are panic-bidding to secure exposure. The move from $50 to $112 has occurred with almost no consolidation, signaling extreme urgency. Liquidity Zones:  The $100.00  level is now the critical psychological floor. Below that, the previous breakout point around $80.00 serves as structural support. However, in this vertical phase, technical support levels are less relevant than flow dynamics. Divergences:  None. Price and Momentum are synchronized in a historic extension. The Monthly RSI reading of 99.99  is a statistical anomaly, suggesting that the asset is currently being driven purely by flow mechanics (a liquidity vacuum) rather than fundamental valuation. MOMENTUM PROFILE (WEEKLY) Tactical Momentum:  Extreme Overbought. The Weekly RSI is at 98.02 . In standard analysis, this is "overbought," but in a parabolic squeeze, it signals that the market is "locked" limit-up, forcing chasing behavior. Fast Weekly:  Strong. The Daily chart confirms the intensity with an RSI of 99.03  and a daily gain of nearly 9%, showing accelerating velocity even at these altitudes. Structural Trend:  Bullish Breakout. The monthly chart shows a clean break from the multi-decade consolidation, releasing significantly pent-up energy. Primary Trend:  Bullish. Silver is outperforming Gold (High Beta), confirming a "Risk-On" commodity super-cycle. CORE THESIS Silver is experiencing a historic repricing event, characterized by a "Super-Spike" or "Melt-Up." The RSI readings (hitting the mathematical ceiling of 99.99) indicate a complete absence of sellers. This is likely driven by a combination of industrial panic buying and a monetary "run to hard assets." While volatility will be extreme, fading this move is highly dangerous. The trend remains violently up until a daily close confirms a reversal candle (e.g., a bearish engulfing). The $120-$125 zone is the next logical magnet for this runaway momentum. Previous Post (10 June 2025) Money Flow at multi-month highs. Here's a breakdown of the current price action: The 7-day trend  is indicated as "High Bullish Momentum / Approaching Overbought," while the 14-day trend  is "Very Bullish." Comparison: Both the short-term ( 7-day ) and slightly longer short-term ( 14-day ) trends indicate upward momentum ("High Bullish Momentum / Approaching Overbought" and "Very Bullish" respectively). This suggests a consistent buying pressure across these timeframes. The "Very Bullish" 14-day trend  reinforces the "High Bullish Momentum / Approaching Overbought" 7-day trend , indicating that the recent strength is part of a broader upward movement. Potential Trading Approach: Short Term (Approximately Next 1 to 10 Trading Days):  The model notes, "Aggressive Buying Wait For Pullback To Enter Next-Alternatively If The Highs Fail To Hold Then Short Back To The 8 Or 21-EMA." Approach:  While there is aggressive buying, the recommendation is to wait for a pullback before entering. Alternatively, if the highs fail to hold, consider shorting back to the 8 or 21-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA). Medium Term (Approximately Next 2 to 4 Weeks):  The model indicates "Aggressive Buying But Do Not Chase-Look For Overshoot or Failure To Hold Prior Session Range Highs To Short-Sell Back To The 8-EMA." Approach:  The medium term suggests aggressive buying, but cautions against chasing the price. Instead, look for potential short-sell opportunities if the price overshoots or fails to hold above the prior session's high, targeting a move back down to the 8-period EMA. Long Term (Approximately Next 5 to 8 Weeks):  The model states, "Has Resumed A Bull Move In A Strong Upward Trend." Approach:  The long-term perspective indicates that SPOT SILVER has resumed a strong upward trend. This suggests a continued bullish bias over the next 5 to 8 weeks. Overall Trading Considerations: Consistent bullish momentum: Both short and slightly longer short-term trends are bullish, supporting upward price action. Short-term caution: Despite the buying pressure, the model advises against chasing and suggests looking for short-sell entries on weakness relative to the prior session's high or waiting for a pullback. Medium-term aggressive buying with a caveat: The medium term reinforces aggressive buying, but highlights the importance of not chasing and considering short-sell opportunities on overshoots or failures at prior session highs. Long-term strong upward trend: The long term clearly indicates a resumed bull move in a strong upward trend. In summary the current view is bullish across all timeframes, with a long-term strong upward trend. However, short-term and medium-term traders should be cautious of potential overshoots and failures at prior session highs for tactical short opportunities or wait for pullbacks for long entrie s. • Trading Harmony Gold (HMY): Target Range Entered ($24.00 - $26.00)

Research Notes January 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/rjan2026 Trade   Local & Global Financial Markets with Unum Capital. To get started, email   tradingdesk@unum.co.za For our clients trading Harmony Gold (HMY) in New York. Update: Harmony Gold (HMY) has entered the target range of $24.00 to $26.00. Previous Post (18 January 2026): Trading Harmony Gold Closing Price:   $21.80 1W Change:   +5.36% Multi-Frame Action:  🟡 Consolidation (D)  🟢 Bullish (W)  🟢 Blue Sky (M) Technical Upside:   Blue Sky. Resistance at $22.98 (Intra-week High). Target:   $24.00 – $26.00. Trend Extension. Momentum Signal:   Bullish Continuation (Weekly RSI > 77) Risk / Invalidation:   Close below $19.00 Valuation Basket:   Leveraged Gold Play / Emerging Market Value Primary Driver:   Rising Gold Price ($) & Rand Weakness Leverage. MARKET STRUCTURE & VOLUME VALIDATION Volume Profile:  Weekly volume (21.04M) is healthy and supports the strong weekly close of +5.36%. The stock is aggressively pushing into new highs, indicating sustained institutional accumulation rather than a retail blow-off top. Liquidity Zones:  The $19.00 – $20.00  zone has flipped from resistance to a major support floor. Price has successfully launched from this base. The next liquidity objective is the psychological $25.00  level as the stock enters price discovery. Divergences:   None.  The Daily RSI has reset to "Neutral" (46.20) during the intra-week pullback, while the price held the high ground. This hidden bullish divergence suggests that the "froth" has been removed without damaging the uptrend, setting the stage for the next leg higher. MOMENTUM PROFILE (WEEKLY) Tactical Momentum:   Strong.  The indicator is at 77.32, sitting firmly in the "Strong" to "Approaching Overbought" zone. It remains pointed upward, confirming that short-term buy pressure is intense. Fast Weekly:   Strong.  Tracking closely with the tactical signal at 71.06, reinforcing the strength of the current breakout move. Structural Trend:   Bullish.  The medium-term trend is robust (66.49) and rising, providing a solid "wind at the back" for the current rally. Primary Trend:   Bullish.  The core baseline (63.79) is healthy and expanding, confirming this is a high-conviction secular trend. CORE THESIS Harmony Gold is a high-beta play on the current gold bull market, showing relative strength that exceeds the underlying metal. The daily momentum reset has cleared the "overbought" condition while price remains near highs—a classic "bull flag" setup. With weekly momentum firing on all cylinders and no overhead resistance (Blue Sky), the path of least resistance is significantly higher, targeting $24.00+. Trading Notes/Resources (Where Applicable) READY TO TRADE: ACTIONABLE AREAS:  For active traders who look to generate cash flow on a continuous basis, determining the ‘next best probability’ level to execute against may be of immense value.   The blue and red  horizontal lines on the chart  represent a next best probability buy re-entry range and a next best probability sell re-entry range  over the short term. The ranges assume no existing position being held by a trader while the probabilities are based on several factors which may include: short term rating, medium term regime, momentum, horizontal or diagonal support/resistance, candle structure, moving averages and standard deviation, among others. These are short term levels and may be in contrast to medium and long term outlooks which are based on the weekly and monthly charts and, which may be applicable to long term investors. These levels are subject to change  based on sentiment, the subsequent price action and company/sector specific or macro news flow. As always, while the levels are outlined, traders should be prepared to adjust in real-time  based on the aforementioned. "Strategy Alerts"  help clients identify trading opportunities . When a ticker's real-time or pre-market price action aligns with the criteria on a slide—such as a pullback to the 21-day EMA or a breakout from a consolidation base—it effectively "matches" that stock to the strategy, triggering an alert to a potential trading opportunity.  This approach transforms the playbook into a dynamic scanning tool, allowing you to instantly categorize active stocks by the specific technical thesis playing out , ensuring that every trading potential opportunity communicated is backed by a predefined, actionable setup. THE TACTICAL TRADING GUIDE (PRICE ACTION MODEL) :  UNCOVER OPPORTUNITIES & ASSESS REWARD-TO-RISK It helps helps clients determine and shed light on the some of the following: The CURRENT TECHNICAL POSITION  and a PRICE ACTION PROBABILITY  for multiple time frames. Three (3) ‘trading’ time frames are considered: Short Term (1 to 10 days) / Medium Term (2 to 4 weeks) and Long Term (5 to 8 weeks) Whether the reward-to-risk is attractive for a buy/long position Whether a share is weak. In this case, wait until the price stabilizes before looking to enter (i.e. want until it stops going down) Whether aggressive buying is underway. In this case, do not ‘chase’ (do not buy) but instead wait for a pullback to re-enter a buy or an overextension with deteriorating candle structure to sell/short. Whether a trader can look to buy a pullback into a key moving average (continuation trade) Whether a share needs to break a range for a new trend to be determined (bullish or bearish) Whether a traders needs to monitor for a change of character that could lead to a bullish or bearish reversal Whether a share could start a consolidation phase or before continuing it’s bullish or bearish trend Whether the upward momentum is slowing (if it's in a bullish phase) Whether buyers can look to 'phase in' to a position (if it's in a bearish phase) Whether a share lacks directional bias. • Trading Impala Platinum

Research Notes January 2026 > https://www.unum.capital/post/rjan2026 Trade   Local & Global Financial Markets with Unum Capital. To get started, email   tradingdesk@unum.co.za Published: Monday, 26 January 2026 Time: 18h30 Closing Price:  36,700c (ZAR) 1D Change:  +5.06% Multi-Frame Action:  🟢 Parabolic (D) 🟢 Breakout (W) 🟢 Vertical (M) Technical Upside:  Blue Sky Breakout. Trading at Multi-Decade / All-Time Highs. Target:  38,000c – 40,000c. Momentum Extension / Psychological Magnet. Momentum Signal:  "Lock-Out" Extreme. Risk / Invalidation:  Close below 30,000c (Previous Major Resistance turned Support). Valuation Basket:  High Beta / Short Squeeze / PGM Recovery Primary Driver:  Parabolic Platinum/Palladium prices, and Systemic Short Squeeze. Reward-to-Risk Assessment:  🟢 Long: Moderate/High  (Trend is in price discovery mode, but statistical extension is extreme) | 🔴 Short: Very Poor  (Fighting a vertical "Lock-Out" is capital destructive). MARKET STRUCTURE & VOLUME VALIDATION Volume Profile:  The price action is vertical and accelerating. The stock has decisively cleared the 2008 and 2021 structural highs (~30,000c - 33,000c), entering "Blue Sky" territory where no overhead supply exists. The move is characteristic of a "panic buy" event driven by forced covering. Liquidity Zones:  The 30,000c  level is now the major "floor" (structural breakout point). The current price of 36,700c  is seeking the next psychological level at 40,000c . The gap between current price and support is wide, indicating high volatility risk. Divergences:  None. The Weekly RSI ( 99.57 ) and Daily RSI ( 99.43 ) are effectively "maxed out." This is a rare "Lock-Out" signal, confirming that the trend is being driven by indiscriminate buying pressure that ignores standard overbought conditions. MOMENTUM PROFILE (WEEKLY) Tactical Momentum:  Extreme Overbought. The RSI is pinned near 100. This is the definition of a "runaway" trend. In such environments, oscillators stay overbought for the duration of the squeeze. Fast Weekly:  Strong. Rising vertically with price. Structural Trend:  Bullish Breakout. The Monthly chart shows a clean break above the multi-year consolidation range, signaling a new secular advance. Primary Trend:  Bullish. Impala has reasserted itself as a market leader, outperforming even the strong gold sector. CORE THESIS Impala Platinum is experiencing a historic repricing event. The technicals show a "Lock-Out" rally of rare intensity (RSI ~99), driven by the underlying surge in Palladium and a likely shortage of physical scrip. The stock is in price discovery mode. While the vertical ascent makes new entries high-risk, the momentum is too powerful to fade. The strategy is to hold the trend and trail stops loosely to account for the extreme volatility, targeting the 40,000c psychological level. To get started, email   tradingdesk@unum.co.za Published: Monday, 26 January 2026 Time: 18h24 Closing Price:  8,081c (ZAR) 1D Change:  +3.88% Multi-Frame Action:  🟢 Parabolic (D) 🟢 Breakout (W) 🟢 Vertical (M) Technical Upside:  Major Structural Breakout. Clearing multi-year resistance at 8,000c. Target:  8,500c – 9,000c. Momentum Extension. Momentum Signal:  "Lock-Out" Extreme. Risk / Invalidation:  Close below 7,500c (Immediate Breakout Gap). Valuation Basket:  High Beta / Short Squeeze / Operational Leverage Primary Driver:  PGM Basket Surge (Palladium), Gold Strength, and Aggressive Short Covering. Reward-to-Risk Assessment:  🟢 Long: Moderate/High  (Trend is powerful, but entry is late and volatility is extreme) | 🔴 Short: Very Poor  (Fighting a vertical trend is dangerous). MARKET STRUCTURE & VOLUME VALIDATION Volume Profile:  The price action is vertical across all timeframes, indicative of a violent "panic buy" scenario. The stock has surged through the psychological 8,000c  resistance level without pausing. This structure is typical of a forced liquidation of short positions (short squeeze) combined with aggressive institutional chasing. Liquidity Zones:  The 8,000c  level has flipped from major resistance to immediate psychological support. Below that, the 7,000c – 7,200c  zone represents the breakout shelf. The current move is in "Blue Sky" discovery relative to recent years, targeting the 2021/2022 cycle highs. Divergences:  None. Price and Momentum are synchronized in a hyper-aggressive extension. The Daily RSI reaching 98.89  is a statistical anomaly, confirming that the stock is currently detached from standard mean-reversion mechanics and is trading purely on flow. MOMENTUM PROFILE (WEEKLY) Tactical Momentum:  Extreme Overbought. The Weekly RSI is at 97.31 . Readings this high are rare and characterize a "Lock-Out" rally where the asset refuses to pull back, forcing buyers to pay up or miss the trade entirely. Fast Weekly:  Strong. The Daily chart confirms the parabolic nature with an RSI near 99, showing no signs of exhaustion yet. Structural Trend:  Bullish Breakout. The Monthly chart shows a massive V-shape recovery that has effectively erased the prior downtrend in a single impulse. Primary Trend:  Bullish. SSW has transitioned from a deep value recovery play to a high-momentum leader. CORE THESIS Sibanye Stillwater is currently the highest-beta vehicle for the PGM recovery theme. The technicals are exhibiting "Lock-Out" characteristics with RSI readings >97 across multiple timeframes. This suggests a market in a frenzy, likely driven by a squeeze. While a pullback is inevitable given the statistical extension, the trend is currently vertical. The strategy is to respect the momentum: do not short the "overbought" signal, as volatility and price can expand significantly further in a squeeze environment. SSW has nearly completed our long term cycle view, published 28 July 2024, with the price now at above 8000c, from a low of around 1400c. Well done to clients and shareholders. To get started, email   tradingdesk@unum.co.za Update: Strong Upside Follow-Through From Bull Flag Formation (from below R450 to above R850). CORE THESIS Gold Fields is a standout "Super-Trend" leader. It offers a "best of both worlds" profile: participating in the general resource rally while providing defensive hedging characteristics. The technicals are in "Blue Sky" territory with no overhead resistance. The extreme momentum readings suggest a powerful flow-driven advance that is likely to extend further, although volatility should be expected. The strategy remains "buy strength" and "hold trend" until a clear reversal signal appears. Testing major psychological resistance at $5,000. Target:  $5,000 – $5,250. Momentum Extension / Psychological Magnet. Momentum Signal:  "Lock-Out" Extreme. Vertical price action. Risk / Invalidation:  Close below $4,800 (Previous consolidation high). Valuation Basket:  Safe Haven / Monetary Debasement Primary Driver:  Central Bank accumulation, Global fiat instability & Safe Haven panic flows. MARKET STRUCTURE & VOLUME VALIDATION Volume Profile:  The ascent is vertical and uncorrected, typical of a "panic buy" scenario where fiat currency is being aggressively dumped for hard assets. The move into the $4,900s has accelerated, indicating a squeeze on under-positioned funds before the $5,000 level. Liquidity Zones:  The $5,000  level is the "Magnet." It is a massive psychological barrier where significant profit-taking and option hedging activity is expected. Immediate support has formed at $4,800 ; a loss of this level would signal a temporary climax. Divergences:  None. The trend is hyper-extended but fully supported by momentum. The monthly candle (+15.38%) is one of the strongest on record, confirming a structural shift in valuation. MOMENTUM PROFILE (WEEKLY) Tactical Momentum:  Extreme Overbought. In a parabolic run, traditional overbought signals are ignored as the asset reprices to a new paradigm. Fast Weekly:  Strong. The weekly chart shows a "Three White Soldiers" equivalent pattern, with consecutive strong closes near the highs. Structural Trend:  Bullish Breakout. The breakout above $4,400 has triggered a vacuum move higher. Primary Trend:  Bullish. Gold is in a secular bull market, currently in its most aggressive "markup" phase. CORE THESIS Gold is effectively in a "melt-up" phase, driven by a loss of confidence in fiat stability and fear of missing out (FOMO) on the break of $5,000. The trend is vertical, creating a "Lock-Out" for conservative entries. While the $5,000 level will likely trigger volatility and a potential shake-out, the primary trend is overwhelmingly bullish. The strategy is to trail stops aggressively rather than fade the strength, as "top-picking" a parabolic move is a low-probability play. Lester Davids Senior Investment Analyst: Unum Capital
